Episode 4: Cornetto Crazy

We take a moment to reach back in our film library to discuss the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy from the team of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost. Perhaps the best team in modern cinema, we delight ourselves by discussing Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End.

 And as always:

SPOILERS!

Time Breakdown:

00:00 - 20:35 - Shaun of the Dead

20:36 - 34:14 - Hot Fuzz

34:15 - End - The World's End

Discretion: "Bullshit" gets dropped early in the show, but otherwise it's pretty clean.

Episode 3: Girl Power

This week's selection of films are centered primarily on female characters - something still a bit of a rarity in cinema. However, we couldn't find two films currently out (near us at least) that did this, so we had to reach back a few years to find another female-centered feature. Disney's re-telling of a villain Maleficent and Joe Wright's nightmare-fantasy-action flick Hanna get covered in the podcast.

And as always:

SPOILERS!

Time Breakdown:

00:00-24:07 - Maleficent

24:08 - End - Hanna

Discretion: We do discuss rape as a subject matter during Maleficent as it pertains to a particularly mature (and messed up) sequence in the film.

Guest Host: Dave

And, of course, the house dog Oliver shows up from time to time to remind us that we're not paying enough attention to him.

Episode 2: Time After Time

Today, Dave drops to discuss a couple of summer films that deal exclusively with time. At first, we discuss the new Tom Cruise sci-fi flick Edge of Tomorrow - which is basically just Groundhog Day with more guns and robot exoskeleton suits and less Bill Murray. Then, we discuss the other big Marvel movie, X-Men Days of Future Past - a movie so confusing that the title actually makes more sense than most plot elements.

And as always:

SPOILERS!

Time Breakdown:

00:00 - 22:07 - Edge of Tomorrow

22:08 - END - X-Men Days of Future Past

Discretion: There is a tiny bit of cursing near the end of our Edge of Tomorrow discussion: the "b-word" specifically.

Guest Host: Dave

Also have to apologize. We had a weird glitch around the nine minute marker, so the sound just drops out.

Episode 1: Of Spiders and Monsters

In our inaugural podcast about movies, Dave drops by to talk about some of the nerdy blockbusters - namely The Amazing Spider-man 2, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and Godzilla. To kick off the series, we go an hour and meander a bit discussing some of the other comic book movies that have come down from Hollywood almost like a plague! We don't go into much detail, but we do touch briefly upon other comic book movies.

Be warned though, there is a lot of detailed conversation here. That means

SPOILERS!

Time Breakdown:

00:00 - 28:00 - The Amazing Spider-man 2

28:00 - 39:20 - Captain America: Winter Soldier

39:21 - 1:01:00 - Godzilla

Discretion: There is a joke about porn films, but otherwise the podcast is clean and is safe for work, as they say!

Guest Host: Dave
